This Center is part of the US Department of Health and Human Services. This Center offers information specifically on developmental disabilities. The CDC also has an Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM).

Physical Activity and Nutrition
Physical Activity and Sport for People with Disabilities: Symposium and Strategic Planning
The Athletic Equity Symposium, held in June 2011, brought together diverse academic, administrative, organization, and education experts as well as advocates and athletes with disabilities to discuss policy issues and changes that can be made at the national, state and local levels to ensure full participation of children, youth and young adults in sports and physical activity. A strategic plan was created to accomplishing the goal of full participation in sports and physical activity. Read the Physical Activity and Sport for People with Disabilities proceedings and the strategic plan from the meeting. The last page of the proceedings document contains links to other resource documents used to inform the discussion.
The Move Experience Engage (MEE) Calendar
A publication that is a calendar of 365 activities designed to be used by individuals providing services to adults with developmental disabilities in community-based residential facilities. It includes a variety of fun and engaging activities like exercises, cooking and community activities that will help promote health and a sense of well being. SENSAtional Ideas for Adults with Developmental Disabilities
A checklist and activity guide designed to be used by individuals providing services to adults with developmental disabilities. The activities use pleasant scents, sounds and other means to calm, soothe, relax or energize individuals. Family Food and Fitness: A Guide to Healthy Eating and Exercise
A family guide that has information about healthy eating, recipes, and activities. For families with young children of all abilities. The Family Food and Fitness guide provides families with information about healthy eating and active lifestyles. It is our hope that families will use this knowledge to help them buy fresh food, prepare nutritious meals, and have fun being active. We encourage families to include their children while they shop for food, prepare meals, and cook. Children who participate in cooking enjoy eating and make healthier food choices.
