In My Own Words

My Life – COVID-19 Stories

These are brief stories about the impact of COVID-19 on several people with disabilities who live in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Individuals were interviewed between May and July 2020 and asked three basic questions:

  • How has your life changed due to the quarantine?
  • What would you tell policy-makers, if you knew they were listening?
  • What is the hardest adjustment you’ve had to make with this pandemic?

Comments from the interviews were written and approved by the interviewee. We wanted to let people have a platform to share the impact of COVID-19, from their perspectives. We are most grateful for the time and dedication of these individuals, and their commitment to informing policy makers and others about their lives during these difficult times.
